Children’s Book Illustration: An Introduction – Part 1 is a course based on introductory level drawing and painting skills. We work with such classics as The Wind in the Willows, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Beauty and the Beast. We interpret those and others by creating character designs in pen and ink, watercolour, and coloured pencil, with mixed media and digital media options possible as well. Through a series of drawing and painting exercises, students learn techniques of character design, media handling and rendering.

This online course features pre-recorded tutorial videos that you can watch during the week when it is convenient for you, as well as weekly live video discussions (using Google Meet), both full-class and one-on-one sessions with the instructor.
